Flash Banners on a CMS Website can really make a great visual impact and work well with CMS websites.
That’s as far as we go with flash. Although i spent many years learning how to build an impressive flash website, until certain other technologies catch up or change these type of websites are not great. I’ll probably be chased down by angry web developers for saying this but the disadvantages of Flash are:
Increases the file size of a homepage: ages to open up for anyone without super fast internet speeds.
Flash intros and Search Engine Optimization (SEO)- Google and other search engines do not recognise flash coding, so your website slips down the ladder.
The purpose?- Visitors need information not elaborate animations and music
Flash is not recognised by mobile devices- This may change, but with so many people using iphones etc its important to have an online mobile presence.
